Green Thumb Farms is a community-rooted farm in San Juan Bautista dedicated to growing food with purpose. More than a farm, it is a space for education, connection, and food sovereignty—where access to fresh, culturally meaningful food supports a thriving and resilient community.
Green Thumb Farms was founded by Rudy, a fourth-generation farmer and food justice instructor who began farming alongside his father. Carrying forward his father’s knowledge and legacy, Rudy honors generations of land stewardship while teaching youth and community members about sustainable agriculture, equity, and the power of growing one’s own food.
Maria serves as the Operations Manager of Green Thumb Farms and brings a strong culinary and entrepreneurial background to the farm’s vision. She is also the owner and operator of Cultiva, a brick and mortar in San Juan Bautista which serves as the space where Green Thumb Farms creates its value-added products and hosts farm-to-table dinners and pop-up events that celebrate seasonal food and community.
Together, Rudy and Maria are deeply committed to feeding community and creating safe, inclusive spaces where education, food justice, and food sovereignty intersect. Through farmers markets, CSA programs, and youth education, Green Thumb Farms distributes fresh, locally grown produce to thousands of people each month—strengthening community health while honoring land, culture, and legacy.
